COMECE's proposals on Roma integration

 

unknownCOMECE has published a document entitled “A Reflection on the EU Roma Framework”, after the European Commission issued its Communication named “An EU Framework for National Roma Integration Strategies up to 2020”. The reflection contains guidelines and concrete proposals in the priority areas for social inclusion (employment, housing, education and health) and others (“Social and economic improvement” and “Citizenship and the fight against discrimination”). COMECE Autumn Plenary Assembly

unknown23 COMECE Member Bishops will be present. The main topic of the Plenary will be « The Financial Crisis and the future of European Integration ». The Bishops will analyse the economical and political reasons for the debt crisis in Europe and the instruments that have been set up to tackle the crisis. European Sunday Alliance

unknownCOMECE partners the European Sunday Alliance. On 20 June,  some 65 civil society organisations, trade unions and Churches launched the European Sunday Alliance at an event held in the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) in Brussels. In their Founding Statement “Together for decent working hours” the signatories commit to safeguard and promote work-free Sundays and decent working hours throughout Europe. Annual Summit Meeting of Faith leaders with the EU Institutions

The Arab Spring was at the heart of this year’s annual summit meeting of European Faith leaders with the Presidents of the EU Institutions. This was the seventh such high-level meeting which took place at the invitation of President José Manuel Barroso and was co-chaired by Jerzy Buzek, President of the European Parliament and Herman Van Rompuy, President of the European Council.
