Former President of the European Commission (1985-1994)

The Delors Commission gave a new momentum to the process of European integration. He completed the internal market and laid the foundations for the single European currency. The Delors Commission was responsible for the Single European Act (SEA) in February 1986, the Treaty of Maastricht in 1992 and prepared the opening to the eastern countries who later joined the EU in 2004.
